Interior Decorating Studios
This project was a lot of fun. Working on a space for Interior Decorating students to collaborate, produce, lecture and present. This environment is a blank slate for the creativity that the students need. The white and gray palette is exactly what is required for their work to showcase at the highest level. Materials can be laid out on the tables and used a a back drop for photography, hand drafting or sketching with lighter paper you need a lighter backing to get those lines to pop.
The Tables used are flip top and nesting. If they have presentations or showcases work, the classroom can be rearranged and stored neatly in the corner should they need to change things up.

At the back of the classroom we installed some custom Forbo cork boards. The program coordinator for the Interior Decorating program wanted to have a space where they could showcase student work during the semester, have a space to display trending media or materials. This pin up space also offers a place to flip the classroom around and use it as a presentation wall. Students can pin up their work in a curated way that makes it easy to Presenter and Audience to see. The colour we chose is a black caviar, this is a perfect back drop to frame in work.

The design intent for this campus is a Living Lab. Most of the programs here are in the design and construction sector. The Architect showcased elements of the building as a learning tool that can be used in class or while walk around the campus. In the Studio classrooms partial exposure to the ceiling allows the professors to point out real life installs and explain why it works or does not work for a particular lecture topic. We also did layered lighting for the sae reason. As you can see there are 3 different types of lighting solutions above, not including the wonderful natural light these rooms get.
A Before Fit Up shot.

These rooms were set up to for short lectures at the beginning of class followed by studio/ production time for drafting, sketching and hand rendering. These custom Drafting Tables are multifunctional: tilting drafting board with a sliding parallel edge, self healing mats (seen in white) used for cutting materials with Exacto knives or a place to hold your laptop to take notes or reference while drafting.
